Catholic Men: Begin Your Day with the Morning War Cry of the Desert Fathers

THE MORNING WAR CRY OF THE DESERT FATHERS

(To be prayed after the Angelus, before the Rosary)

“Before my hands touch the world, let my soul touch Heaven.”

Step 1: Posture of Readiness

• Stand. Hands open. Bare feet if possible.

• Breathe deep. 3 times. Eyes closed. No distractions.

“I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in Your word.” —Psalm 119:147

Step 2: Desert Declaration

Say aloud, slowly and clearly

“I am a Catholic man.

I am a husband under covenant.

I am a father under mission.

I live under the mantle of Mary.

I serve under the Cross of Christ.

And I do not belong to the world.”

Step 3: Psalm of War (Psalm 144:1–2)

“Blessed be the Lord, my Rock,

who trains my hands for war,

and my fingers for battle—

my Mercy and my Fortress,

my Stronghold and my Deliverer,

my Shield, in whom I trust.”

Speak it like a soldier. Not a poet.

Step 4: Tactical Intercession

Call out:

What you must conquer today:

“Lord, give me dominion over distraction.”

“Give me purity of eyes and precision of tongue.”

Who you are protecting today:

• Your wife’s name.

• Your children’s names.

• The name of a man you are mentoring or fighting for.

“Lord, make me dangerous to Hell and docile to You.”

Step 5: Invocation of St. Moses the Black

“St. Moses, monk of the flame,

teach me to war in silence,

to destroy what is weak within me,

to lead not with pride but scars.

Walk with me through this day of battle.”

Step 6: Marian Covering (Short Form)

“Mother Mary,

mantle my house.

Mantle my eyes.

Mantle my thoughts.

Let nothing reach me

that doesn’t pass through you first.”

Final Line (Clenched Fist, Whispered or Spoken)

“This day belongs to Christ. I command it in His name.”

Bonus: Optional Pairing

• After this War Cry → Begin your Rosary as your first act of battle.

• Offer it intentionally: for purity, protection, provision, or penance.

Copy these prayers by hand. Carry them everywhere. Read them like war orders.
